In the Mean Time...

I'm currently towards the end of my few days off of work and I've gotten some stuff done on my never-ending list. (That list is such a tease!  Every time you finish one task, 5 more pop up!)  David and I got out and did a little more yard work.  Yes, I did do some yard work!  It wasn't without some screeching and swatting at bugs...  We also had an escapee:

Jovie is an indoor cat, but could hardly stand it that Marley was always getting to go outside!  She had to see what the fuss was all about.  I looked up from the yard to make sure Marley was still there and saw an addition, haha :)

I've also been working a lot on our wedding album.  We received the copyright to all of our pictures, but because of that, we had to print them all off and make our own wedding album etc.  So, I've had 400+ pictures printed out for a while now and had no idea how I was going to tackle this project.

But I got on a roll yesterday and got through the pre-ceremony, ceremony, and family pictures after the ceremony.  I haven't gotten to the reception or get-away yet.  But I think I might need a few more scrapbook pages!

I've really enjoyed going through my wedding pictures so would it surprise you that I popped my wedding dvd in?!  Ha!  Yes, yes I did.  And I'm quite enjoying it! :)

I've also started tackling our laundry.  It isn't so bad, I try to do a couple loads a week so it doesn't ever pile up!  Unfortunately, it's the clean clothes at our house that pile up!  Haha!

And just for good measure- here's a picture of my handsome boy.  His hair is getting so long- yesterday his "bangs" were all pushed over to the right.  I told him he looked like a member of OneDirection! Ha!

I apologize in advance if I don't post for a week or so!  I work Friday night, am hosting a baby shower Saturday, work Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night and I'm on call Wednesday night!  Whew, that's a mouthful... but I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week! :)

First Weekend...

Have I mentioned that I don't work weekends anymore?  I don't think I have.  And by weekends, I mean Friday and Saturday. (For some reason, the hospital doesn't count the Sabbath as a weekend...hmm priorities?)  But thanks to a wonderful new addition to our NICU staff, Greta, I am now weekend-free and she is...well, all-weekend, every weekend! :)  And I am so thankful for this opportunity!  I love where I work, but sometimes I can go days where I only see David for an hour.  An hour!  We are newlyweds for cryin' out loud!  We need to spend time with each other!  So when this opportunity came about, I jumped at it.  My new schedule will be Sunday, Monday, Thursday.  Every week.  Awesome!

So this was my first weekend off and now that I have my man back from abroad, we had a lot of ground to cover!  I had quite a list of things for us to do today and I'm afraid to admit they didn't all get done!  But we had some quality time together and that's what counts.  Plus, there's always next weekend. ;)

We have friends in all different stages of life right now, but y'all, I feel like we are going broke being happy for everyone, haha!  We are hosting another baby shower next week so our first stop was the cake bakery, Couture Cakes of Greenville, to order some dessert.  It's the same place that made Casey and Jayma's baby shower cake so I know it will be wonderful!  We also had to pick up a baby gift for them so we headed off to Babies r' us.  All I can say about that place is, they need some major reorganization! Nothing was on the aisle the registry said it was on and the layout didn't make sense!  Pay me, I'll come organize! ;)  We also happened upon a baby pool while we were there...so we picked one up just in case someone wanted to swim later.

Next we headed to pick out some wedding shower presents for one of my long-time friends, Laurel, and David's long-time friend Bo. (No, they aren't marrying each other!)  But they both have festivities falling on the same day that David's cousin graduates from the Citadel so neither of us can make it to either thing!  We are totally bummed about it and I especially hate to miss Laurel's shower. :(  But I wanted her to have a gift to open anyway so I'll ship that off sometime this week.

I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with Greenville at all, but Woodruff Road is enough to send anyone sane over the edge.  Most of the places we went involved getting on Woodruff at some point and we had had enough so we headed back to our little corner of the world.  And found someone to swim in our new pool:

(And yes, that is a baby gate.  We have two of them. We get great use out of them already.)

Oh yes, Marley adored his spa day.  He has a pool just like this at his grandmommy's house and seeing as it was a nice, warm day- he tried it out.  And looked mighty cute, I might add. ;)

At one point, he got in the pool all by himself- all four paws!  I was excited for him, seeing as he normally just dunks his front paws in.

He was having himself a jolly good time, I think!

And of course he had to dry off afterwords.

He did tell me that he needs a blue towel since he's a boy....I guess the pink and green wasn't cutting it. ;)

David did a little of this:

(okay, he did a lot of that.  and yes, that is baby gate #2.)

And I did some of this:

(My shoes eventually came off...)

And I paid for sitting in the sun for hours.  I ended up with my first "burn" of the summer, although I think it will tan up nicely.  I have this Burt's Bees stuff we got at the Tarjay (read: Target) last summer but never ended up using.  It's supposed to be soothing and oh boy was it!  And it smells good, too!  I can see it getting a lot of use over the next few months!  (Annnddd on our trip to Clearwater, Fl!  Ooh la la!)

We ended our lovely day with a yummy dinner and some time with our friends from Downton Abbey.  I had grilled cheese and tomato soup.  Marley, of course, wasn't begging at all.  Just laying like a sweet boy.  There may have been a whimper or two just to remind us he was there....  David had a BLT.

It was a fantastic day and I'm about to end it in our new sheets- a token from our hard work today! :)  I think this was a great way to spend my first weekend home!

Halfway to Middle-Age

Well, work has kept me from my blog, yet again!  And now sickness has been set upon me!  I'm heading to the minute clinic at 2:30 to get checked out.  So while I'm curled up on the couch, I thought I'd update.

My birthday is tomorrow.  I'll be 25- or as I've been fond of saying lately, halfway to middle-age!  I can feel the wrinkles forming as we speak. :)  Okay, not really, but I like to be dramatic.  This past weekend, David and I went to Charlotte for my family birthday celebration!  I was so excited because my entire family was going to be there.  I don't think we have all been together since my wedding in September!

Everyone minus Grandmom who was taking the picture!

Friday, we pulled in to town around 5 and hung out at home for about an hour.  My mom is a teacher and she had some school volleyball game she had to support so we tagged along for a little bit of that.  Then we went to dinner at my favorite mexican restaurant- Zapatas!  There are mexican restaurants in Greenville, but none that have been as good as Zapatas.  Kinda stinks for a girl who likes mexican so much!  While we were there, I turned around and guess who I saw?  My aunt and uncle!  They were out to dinner with some of their friends.  It was a nice surprise to get to see them before the birthday celebration. :)

On Saturday, we went to the matinee showing of Jersey Boys at the Blumenthal in downtown Charlotte.  I saw Jersey Boys for the first time 2 years ago and absolutely loved it.  I was so excited because the guy who played Frankie Valli the first time was playing him again this year!  Joseph Leo Bwarie played Frankie and he did not disappoint! And he's not so bad to look at either! ;)  He apparently just came out with a cd- Nothin' But Love- and I downloaded it when I got home. :)  It's really jazzy and I like it!  You should check it out if you get the chance.

We went straight from the play to my grandparents house for birthday festivities.  (Well, my mom went to pick Marley up, couldn't have my sweet boy missing out on al the fun!)

My sweet boy!

We had steak, mashed potatoes, asparagus, salad, and home made ice cream- all my requests, haha!  It was absolutely delicious!  Marley thought so, too.  I think he got a bite of steak from everyone at the table!  UNC was playing Duke so we had the game on for Amy and during half time I openend my presents!

Amy and Tyler

My new nursing shoes! LOOOVVVEE.

Scott wrapped my present in purple and orange! ;)  He got me 2 Caribou coffees to try!  So far, I love them!

Do you remember this post?  I said I would love to have this print framed so I can hang it in a reading nook one day.  Well, my grandmother tracked this print all the way to Latvia and had it matted and framed for me!  Isn't it gorgeous?!  I'm so excited to get my office all set up now!  I also got an outfit from J. Crew (so cute!), a new purse, and a gift card to lululemon!  I racked up! :)

Mom and me

Me and the hubby.

Me and my favorite aunt! :)

Scott and Marley :)

We had cake and homemade ice cream and just spent time together.  Scott is very talented at the piano so he played some songs for us, David showed off some of his recent drawings (yep, my husband is talented, too!), and then we watched home movies from when we were little!  I don't think we have laughed so hard in such a long time!  It was so much fun to look back on what life was like when we were little.  It was such a wonderful evening and I was so sad to leave and come back home the next day!  I couldn't imagine celebrating my birthday with my family any other way. :)

The wonderful host and hostess- my grandparents! :)

If My Phone Threw Up On My Blog....

...this is what you would see :)

*Someone peeking around the computer screen...*

 *A very stoic kitty cat.

*A little camwow fun...Michelle turned me on to this!

Some yummy Starbucks oatmeal and coffee...

And of course, some HP to go with the coffee :)

I love having a phone to document life with.  Sometimes a picture opportunity pops up and I don't have a camera handy!  So my phone has become quite the little sidekick these days.  And just like I want to remember all the times I have my real camera with me, I want to document the pictures I have on my phone, too.  So this is just what my life has consisted of in the last week. :)  What do you have on your phone?

A Day Off!

I worked 3 nights over the weekend and I worked last night, too.  I was schedule to work tonight, but a friend at work needed some extra hours so I took a PTO day and she's going to work my shift!  I have about 2 weeks of PTO so I'm totally okay with using a day!  I am so excited to have a day off! :)  I'm on call Thursday night, but as of early this morning, things were looking pretty good for me to not get called in.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed. ;)

So today has been a very lazy day for me!  I came home from work and put chicken in the crockpot for dinner, had a bowl of cereal, and then slept until 1pm.  I probably could've slept longer but I always feel like I waste a day when I do that.  I got up and showered and realized about half way through that I didn't think I plugged the crockpot in this morning....

Yep.  I win the "new wife" award! :)  So I had 4 hour old chicken sitting in the crockpot not cooking.  Awesome.  Haha!  I think David is going to pick something up on his way home from work. ;)

I've been busy going through my Cooking Light magazines for recipes for this coming week and updating recipe cards.  I've also managed to watch the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice that I got for Christmas!  If it's possible, I love Pride and Prejudice even more now! :)

And so does someone else:

She was cracking me up sitting right up next to the tv like that.  I tried to tell her that it would hurt her eyes, but she wouldn't listen. :)

I wanted to watch The King's Speech this afternoon, too.  I bought the blu-ray back in December and have just opened.  For some reason the movie won't play on our dvd player.  I'm not sure what the heck is going on there, but it's apparently a known issue.  I'm going to be really bummed if David can't get it to work because I've heard it's a great movie! (And David won't watch it with me....so I have to watch it when he's not home!)

Since I couldn't watch that, I just popped in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix...always a go to for me. :)  Harry Potter never gets old.  Hmm, I have 5 days off- I may just need a HP marathon ;)

I saw this on Pinterest and it cracked me up because it's so true!!  Who would've thought? :)

And just because he's so darn cute :)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
