Baby Shower #2

On Saturday, David and I hosted another baby shower for some friends.  But this time we had the help of more friends- Phil and Emily!

I worked the night before (why do I keep doing that to myself?!) so I was glad to have the extra help this time around!  We hosted the shower at Brian and Marybeth's house (the soon-to-be mommy and daddy!) so we got there about 12:45pm to set everything up!  When we got there, this pretty thing was already on the table!  Brian's mom made this diaper cake.  Isn't is so cute?!

Their house is already so pretty, we didn't have to do too much to decorate!  Brian and Marybeth are having a little girl and her room is orange and pink, so we stuck with that for our color theme!  We added streamers, a banner, and had pretty pink and orange plates and flowers, thanks to Emily!

David and I got the cake made at Couture Cakes of Greenville and we got it to match the invitations that David made.  They did a wonderful job!  Brian and Marybeth decided on the name Evelyn Felicity, so we thought it was fitting to add her initials to the cake. :)

The soon-to-be parents, Brian and Marybeth.  They are so happy and we are so thrilled for them!

We had a very special little guest.  Remember the baby shower we gave Casey and Jayma?  They brought sweet Nolynn to the party!  Isn't she so big--and absolutely beautiful?!

Aunt Erin had to get some lovin' in on the sweet girl!  Doesn't it look like I need a baby?!  Haha!
I just love this girl so much!

Emily had some great games set up!  For the first game, she printed out some pictures of babies making funny faces and everyone had to come up with a caption.  The guys really got into this game!  They all went to separate corners so no one could cheat off of them.  It was too funny!

They came up with some pretty funny captions!  We also played a game where you had to fill in the blanks on baby rhymes.  Some of them were pretty old and hard to remember!  I think Brian's mom won that game, haha!

Brian was excited to open gifts ;)    They racked up on a bunch of great stuff!

Both Brian and Marybeth went to Auburn so little miss got a onesie for football season! (It's okay, our friendship has survived despite the fact that they are Auburn fans ;) Just kidding!!....)

Brian's mom makes baby bibs, so they got a slew of those in a bunch of different, cute, girly patterns!  I'm thinking I'm going to need to get some of those when it's time for us to have a little one!

I hope Brian knows what he's getting himself into with a little girl!  That girl is already so spoiled!  She got so many wonderful things at her shower, including adorable clothes!

Beautiful Jayma and baby Nolynn!

We can't wait to meet you, Evie!

In the Mean Time...

I'm currently towards the end of my few days off of work and I've gotten some stuff done on my never-ending list. (That list is such a tease!  Every time you finish one task, 5 more pop up!)  David and I got out and did a little more yard work.  Yes, I did do some yard work!  It wasn't without some screeching and swatting at bugs...  We also had an escapee:

Jovie is an indoor cat, but could hardly stand it that Marley was always getting to go outside!  She had to see what the fuss was all about.  I looked up from the yard to make sure Marley was still there and saw an addition, haha :)

I've also been working a lot on our wedding album.  We received the copyright to all of our pictures, but because of that, we had to print them all off and make our own wedding album etc.  So, I've had 400+ pictures printed out for a while now and had no idea how I was going to tackle this project.

But I got on a roll yesterday and got through the pre-ceremony, ceremony, and family pictures after the ceremony.  I haven't gotten to the reception or get-away yet.  But I think I might need a few more scrapbook pages!

I've really enjoyed going through my wedding pictures so would it surprise you that I popped my wedding dvd in?!  Ha!  Yes, yes I did.  And I'm quite enjoying it! :)

I've also started tackling our laundry.  It isn't so bad, I try to do a couple loads a week so it doesn't ever pile up!  Unfortunately, it's the clean clothes at our house that pile up!  Haha!

And just for good measure- here's a picture of my handsome boy.  His hair is getting so long- yesterday his "bangs" were all pushed over to the right.  I told him he looked like a member of OneDirection! Ha!

I apologize in advance if I don't post for a week or so!  I work Friday night, am hosting a baby shower Saturday, work Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night and I'm on call Wednesday night!  Whew, that's a mouthful... but I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week! :)

First Weekend...

Have I mentioned that I don't work weekends anymore?  I don't think I have.  And by weekends, I mean Friday and Saturday. (For some reason, the hospital doesn't count the Sabbath as a weekend...hmm priorities?)  But thanks to a wonderful new addition to our NICU staff, Greta, I am now weekend-free and she is...well, all-weekend, every weekend! :)  And I am so thankful for this opportunity!  I love where I work, but sometimes I can go days where I only see David for an hour.  An hour!  We are newlyweds for cryin' out loud!  We need to spend time with each other!  So when this opportunity came about, I jumped at it.  My new schedule will be Sunday, Monday, Thursday.  Every week.  Awesome!

So this was my first weekend off and now that I have my man back from abroad, we had a lot of ground to cover!  I had quite a list of things for us to do today and I'm afraid to admit they didn't all get done!  But we had some quality time together and that's what counts.  Plus, there's always next weekend. ;)

We have friends in all different stages of life right now, but y'all, I feel like we are going broke being happy for everyone, haha!  We are hosting another baby shower next week so our first stop was the cake bakery, Couture Cakes of Greenville, to order some dessert.  It's the same place that made Casey and Jayma's baby shower cake so I know it will be wonderful!  We also had to pick up a baby gift for them so we headed off to Babies r' us.  All I can say about that place is, they need some major reorganization! Nothing was on the aisle the registry said it was on and the layout didn't make sense!  Pay me, I'll come organize! ;)  We also happened upon a baby pool while we were there...so we picked one up just in case someone wanted to swim later.

Next we headed to pick out some wedding shower presents for one of my long-time friends, Laurel, and David's long-time friend Bo. (No, they aren't marrying each other!)  But they both have festivities falling on the same day that David's cousin graduates from the Citadel so neither of us can make it to either thing!  We are totally bummed about it and I especially hate to miss Laurel's shower. :(  But I wanted her to have a gift to open anyway so I'll ship that off sometime this week.

I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with Greenville at all, but Woodruff Road is enough to send anyone sane over the edge.  Most of the places we went involved getting on Woodruff at some point and we had had enough so we headed back to our little corner of the world.  And found someone to swim in our new pool:

(And yes, that is a baby gate.  We have two of them. We get great use out of them already.)

Oh yes, Marley adored his spa day.  He has a pool just like this at his grandmommy's house and seeing as it was a nice, warm day- he tried it out.  And looked mighty cute, I might add. ;)

At one point, he got in the pool all by himself- all four paws!  I was excited for him, seeing as he normally just dunks his front paws in.

He was having himself a jolly good time, I think!

And of course he had to dry off afterwords.

He did tell me that he needs a blue towel since he's a boy....I guess the pink and green wasn't cutting it. ;)

David did a little of this:

(okay, he did a lot of that.  and yes, that is baby gate #2.)

And I did some of this:

(My shoes eventually came off...)

And I paid for sitting in the sun for hours.  I ended up with my first "burn" of the summer, although I think it will tan up nicely.  I have this Burt's Bees stuff we got at the Tarjay (read: Target) last summer but never ended up using.  It's supposed to be soothing and oh boy was it!  And it smells good, too!  I can see it getting a lot of use over the next few months!  (Annnddd on our trip to Clearwater, Fl!  Ooh la la!)

We ended our lovely day with a yummy dinner and some time with our friends from Downton Abbey.  I had grilled cheese and tomato soup.  Marley, of course, wasn't begging at all.  Just laying like a sweet boy.  There may have been a whimper or two just to remind us he was there....  David had a BLT.

It was a fantastic day and I'm about to end it in our new sheets- a token from our hard work today! :)  I think this was a great way to spend my first weekend home!

A Baby Shower!

On Sunday, David and I held a baby shower for some of our good friends.  Casey and David work together at BMW, but they were meant to be friends.  They are both so goofy and are such good company. David and I wanted to host a shower for them because they are expecting a little girl in February!  We decided to have a couples shower and let me tell you- that was the best decision we made.  Guys should be invited to more showers.  I laughed more than I have laughed in a long time!  They brought so much fun to the party!  Here is a run down of the party:

Food: We had a bunch of finger foods.  We got a lot of our food from Costco and it was delicious!  We bought some bite-size quiches, chicken salad and croissants to make little sandwiches, and some salsa, hummus, and chips.

We made a pesto pasta salad that was delicious and some punch that I had at one of my bridal showers.

For dessert, we had a cake specially made.  The very first thing Jayma bought for the baby was a rug for her room and the cake was a replica of the rug.  I think it turned out amazing!

One good thing about having guys at a party is the beer!  David and Casey have a friend who brews his own beer and has been doing it for a while so he's really good!  Fred brought a brew of his honey-wheat beer and it was perfect for the party!

Games:  What would a baby shower be without games?  We played the obvious game- you can't say baby!  We had little pink clips and had everyone wear one.  You would be surprised how much the guys got into it!  They were using all kinds of tricks to get people to say baby. :)  We also played "Animal Baby".  We had a list of animals and you had to write down the baby name of the animal.  Whoever had the most won a prize.  We gave everyone a few minutes and we had quite a few interesting answers!  "Human" was on there- one of the guys actually wrote down his children's names!  We had to give him credit for that :)  How creative!

The last game we played was Baby Bingo.  We gave everyone blank bingo cards and had them fill in each space with a present they thought Jayma and Casey would get.  If they were smart, they wrote down what they got to fill in a space!  Talk about free space ;)  The guys were pretty serious about this game, too!

The prizes for all of the games were Target gift cards.

Party favors: For party favors, we bagged up pink and white m&m's and tied them with ribbon.  For Casey and Jayma, David and I bought a frame with a matte and had people sign their wishes for the baby.

When little bit gets here, they can put a picture of her and hang it in her room!

Casey and Jayma really racked up on the gifts.  They got a bunch of things off their registry and a bunch of cute outfits!

One cool thing is that Jayma's mom was there via Skype!  She lives in Florida and will be arriving in Greenville shortly before the baby comes so she wasn't able to attend the shower, but the guys set it up on the iPad and she was able to "be a part" of the shower!  I thought that was pretty neat :)

Everyone seemed to have a really good time.  We are so glad!  We had a great time getting everyone together for this celebration.  :)

The shower was so much fun and I am so glad we were able to do this for two sweet people.  Casey is such a great friend to David and we just love Jayma.  She is so down to earth and they are going to be such great parents!

The world is ready to meet you, Miss Nolynn!! :)
