David and I have been really good recently about going to the gym and I'm hoping that it's going to stick! I love having someone to go to the gym with! We don't ever do the same things, so I have no idea why I like it so much, ha! But I've recently gotten into this:
Y'all, I love it. It is so much fun! I really enjoy the class atmosphere, because let's face it- this Type A personality always loves to prove she's the bomb.com at whatever she's doing. Being in a class with other people really pushes me to do my best and not just stop when I "get tired." When I work out on my own I pull the whole, "well that was good enough, I'm tired, this hurts...yadda yadda yadda." (Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this, haha?!)
I've also started meeting friends at the gym to hold me accountable. If I have to meet someone there, I can't bail! Work out with a friend and be held accountable for something- genius. So far we've tried a yoga class, spinning (which I got hooked on...), and a pilates class!
I can definitely see why all the Hollywood girls are so ripped. Pilates is like intense yoga. I loved it. I think I'm going to try to incorporate that into my gym routine more.
I also want to start incorporating a little weight lifting to get my arms toned- like Jennifer Anniston toned.
And if I'm going to run a half marathon with my cousin in the fall, then I better get some running in there, too!
So, do y'all have any tips? How do you work out?? What is fun for you and what should I try?
My fiance and I just started going to the gym too, and we've been doing a good job so far! We also like to mix it up when we go, but we do a lot with the weights. We start with about 15 minutes on the elliptical and end with the treadmill...that cardio is so important! One of the best suggestions that I got from my trainer was to lift weights while standing on a bosu ball--it's that blue half-ball thing. Hopefully you have one at your gym. If you lift hand weights while keeping your balance on it, it engages your core and makes for more of a "total body" workout. Good luck--sounds like you have some great goals!!
